Work packages
Activities
The scientific and technical work of GoodByO is developed through the following activities (WP – Work Packages):
Develop an innovative open culture fermentation process for the large-scale production of valuable octanoic acid using WP2 liquid effluent as co-substrate and while generating and supplying two residue streams (biogas and wastewater) feeding the other work packages.
Develop a novel gas fermentation process based on C. carboxidivorans for hexanol production from raw Biogas and green Hydorgen.
Develop a novel anaerobic phototrophic biogas desulfurization process based on purple sulfur bacteria and/or green sulfur bacteria which use Hydrogen sulfide as an electron donor and fix part of the biogas CO2 fraction via anoxygenic photosynthesis.
Increase the production of high-value carotenoids, particularly adonixanthin and astaxanthin, using ChanCraft wastewaters.
Identify sustainable downstream methodology and new materials for the separation and purification of octanoic acid and hexanol from fermentation broth.
Ensure consistent and stable production of each bioproduct from previous work packages using real feedstocks to achieve transferable bioprocess performance for further scale-up of the integrated biorefinery after the project’s completion. Additionally, develop an in-silico process modeling platform for the innovative GoodByO integrated biorefinery.
Establish appropriate mid- and end-point indicators to accurately present the anticipated techno-economic, environmental, and social benefits of the proposed value chain.
Establish appropriate mid- and end-point indicators to accurately present the anticipated techno-economic, environmental, and social benefits of the proposed value chain.
Develop a market assessment and exploitation strategy for GoodByO technologies and bio-based products. Evaluate the relevant EU regulatory frameworks to facilitate the creation of compliant technologies and products.
Communicate and promote the activities and results of Goodbye to multiple audiences (media, citizens, etc.); engage main stakeholders to seek interested partners and/or additional private/public funding for further development/scale-up; and train stakeholders on GoodByO innovations.
Coordination of project activities, with a primary focus on the proper implementation of the work plan and achievement of objectives, organization of project meetings, and day-to-day management of the project
